Butterfly sighting
Mating Wall Browns.
Butterfly sighting
Hummingbird Hawk-moth larva.
Report Details
Out for a long walk this morning heading towards Bo Peep, without a camera. As usual, that means I will see something good. Todays delight was a fabulous mating pair of Wall Brown on the return along The Comp path. These sat still for me to get an image on the phone. The best thing about them is the quality of the female. She was probably snapped up by the male before her wings had properly dried as she was in superb condition. I did see several Wall Brown today with various conditions seen. A Hummingbird Hawk-moth larva was also found. My first larva of one of these despite searching for many years.

Astonishing photos, Bob. It just goes to show, just how advanced the microchips are, in many of our mobile phones. Bob tells us, "My first larva of one of these despite searching for many years". It has been a fantastic year for Humming-bird Hawk-moths. I for one, will go looking for the larvae.  Martin K
