I had another "first" for the garden, today, but not a "great first" as I was stung by a wasp (on my face). I guess it was my fault as I disturbed a nest that I didn't know was there. All is forgiven (although eight hours later, it is still hurting, a lot!). Every year, I have 1-4 wasp nests, and in 33 years I have never been stung. I just got unlucky, today. Anyway, I spent yet another 5-6 hours in the garden expanding my new meadow, and weeding. I want my "new meadow" to look good next year, and so I am putting in the effort before winter sets in, and it gets cold. As well as buying lots of plants (from specialist suppliers), I am transplanting Betony, Devilsbit Scabious and Greater Knapweed from other parts of the garden; where there is a surplus. As for the weeding, I am taking out a few hundred Ribwort Plantain, as they do like my sandy soil, a bit too much. Just one pic of a male Common Blue. The real reason for this post is to say that I have now recorded 50 Clouded Yellows in my garden (over 10-12 weeks). One of the reasons for spending 5-6 hours in the garden, was because I wanted another couple of sightings, to get to the half century. One at 11.0am and another at 1.30pm. Neither stayed in the garden for more than 60 seconds.
